Registration for the second Sovereignty Congress is now open for members and invited guests!
Congress will be held on Saturday, 22 April 2023 in Dundee, and will run from 9am to 5.30pm.
Delegates to Congress will have the opportunity to engage in panel discussions on a range of issues of vital importance for the future of Scotland; listen to speeches from some of Scotland’s foremost political thinkers; elect a Deputy Leader, Chairperson, National Organiser and Open Seat member; debate and vote on policy motions; and, network with and meet other party members.
In contrast to other parties, our elections for party officials and policy votes are conducted by open ballot to ensure maximum transparency. Congress is not a stage-managed PR exercise, but an opportunity for all of us as members to debate critical issues honestly and openly.
Panel discussions are expected to focus on the question of the currency of an independent Scotland; the transmission of Scottish heritage; government support for families; and, the foreign and defence policies of an independent Scotland, among other topics. There will be speeches from party officebearers, and the party will present business items, such as a financial report from the party treasurer.
There are currently vacancies for a Deputy Leader, Chairperson, National Organiser, and one of the Open Seats on the NEC. Party members interested in standing for any of these roles should contact the Party Secretary via the email address below:
