Independence Nothing Less, Independence Nothing Else: Sovereignty Welcomes Alliance to Liberate Scotland

Sovereignty warmly welcomes the Alliance to Liberate Scotland, which was officially registered as a political party by the Electoral Commission on 3 February 2026.1 Alliance to Liberate Scotland will stand candidates in the Scottish Parliament elections on 7 May 2026, collaborating closely with Sovereignty and the Independence for Scotland Party (ISP) as part of a broader coalition of independence campaigners.

These groups are uniting under the clear banner of Independence nothing less, Independence nothing else, standing in constituencies and on regional lists to promote uncompromising action on independence.

Our shared goal is to offer a genuine political home for the many disillusioned SNP voters and independence supporters who feel the SNP has prioritised managing devolution over delivering independence.

Hundreds of thousands have supported the SNP election after election, only to see mandates ignored, promises delayed, and progress stalled. Recent polls show independence support holding firm around 45–48% (often in a statistical tie or narrow lead), with the most recent favorable results showing 48% Yes versus 46% No (and up to ~51% Yes when excluding Don’t Knows in key trackers), while SNP voting intention sits lower at approximately 31–35%.2 This leaves a significant bloc of voters—potentially 15–20% or more—seeking a dedicated, vigorous pro-independence alternative.

That’s exactly where Sovereignty, ISP, and Alliance to Liberate Scotland come in!

Brian Nugent, Sovereignty Leader, said:

“I welcome Liberate and look forward to working with ISP and Liberate to deliver Scottish independence. We exist to replace the lack of vigour from the SNP leadership on this vital issue.”

In the 2015 UK general election, the SNP won 56 of 59 seats on 50% of the vote—they won a mandate for independence! And then they did nothing.

They should have declared UDI (Unilateral Declaration of Independence).

UDI is our plan, our intention. We need to persuade voters to back us and back independence.”

This coalition marks a pivotal moment for the independence movement. By standing united, we can reignite the fight and secure the mandate Scotland needs—especially with simulations showing a 99.7% chance of a pro-independence majority in Holyrood.3

    • Hello John,
Under the UK system Scotland is made to work with the money it gets back from the English government. So we keep a good financial record, we have to. What happens if we produce a surplus? You can guess. After independence we are in sole care of our finances. We know how to look after money, it is a Scottish thing and we suffer the jokes because of it. If we end up wasting money it is our money and our fault.
